Wide-view, true colour imaging

Robert Sparkes

Eidon is a fully-automatic wide-field retinal scanner that produces single and multi-field images of the retina. A single image of 60 degrees is standard and an automatic 110-120 degree field can be attained automatically when that mode is selected. An ultra-wide field scan of up to 150 degrees can be attained in manual mode.

Eidon overcomes the compromised image quality of conventional fundus photography by employing confocal technology with true colour SLO, allowing better depth, higher resolution and larger fields of view to be assessed through pupils as small as 2.5 mm.

The device is operated via a tablet with a multi-touch, high resolution, colour display; it works with a dedicated software application and operates as a stand-alone unit. It can also be networked to allow review in other areas of the practice.

Eidon has been designed to be a cost-effective, true-colour retinal imaging device that brings the diagnostic benefits of high-resolution confocal scanning and wide-field imaging without compromise.
