Events aplenty for young optometrists

Early career optometrists can look forward to social events and professional development evenings to be held in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.


14 April: Immediate graduates dinner

The 2015 University of Melbourne graduates can catch up with friends, colleagues and Optometry Victoria staff to share experiences of being a working optometrist. To attend you must be an Optometry Victoria member. RSVP to or 03 9652 9100.

10 May: Finance seminar for early career optometrists

Young Optometrists Victoria is hosting a face to face seminar to provide practical advice on taxation, record-keeping and other profession-related financial issues specific to new graduates. With 1.5 CPD points offered, the free evening will be presented by accountants Melissa Heath and Linda Aydin from OHM Australia. RSVP to or 03 9652 9100.

Expressions of interest invited for the Young Optometrists Victoria committee

Young Optometrists Victoria is looking for enthusiastic new members for its committee. Prospective committee members should be dedicated to championing the interests of early career optometrists. Interested applicants should complete the expression of interest form on the website and email it to Optometry Victoria  no later than 5 pm on 2 May 2016.  

South Australia

20 April: Young Optometry Professional Hub CPD Workshop

The new Young Optometry South Australia hub is hosting its first CPD event on how early career optometrists can examine children with confidence. The evening will cover normal vision skills for various ages, how to assess children and what not to miss or dismiss when examining a child. Three CPD points are available and members can elect to Skype in if they are unable to attend in person. RSVP to

28 May: Pre-Super Sunday Young Optometrists Dinner

On the eve of Super Sunday, Young Optometrists NSW is hosting a networking dinner for early career optometrists heading to the conference. The relaxed dinner promises to reconnect you with old friends and help you make some new ones. Dinner costs $45 per person. RSVP by 24 May on the Young Optometrists website.
