Super Sunday 2015

Save the date for Super Sunday 2015, which will be held on 24 May at the Australian Technology Park, Redfern.

Optometry NSW offers discounted conference registration for optometry students. Events typically range from free-of-charge to $55, depending on the conference type.

Engagement with UNSW

CEO Andrew McKinnon and professional services manager Paula Katalinic conduct twice-yearly sessions with fourth- and fifth-year students on ethics, Medicare and other areas of clinical practice. McKinnon hosts a careers panel for first-year students at which people with optometry or vision science qualifications discuss the areas of the profession in which they work. The panel gives students a better idea of potential career options, such as clinical practice, research or industry. Optometry NSW/ACT also regularly judges student research, assignments and presentations across various year levels.

Student society

Optometry NSW/ACT is the major sponsor of UNSW’s optometry student society, which allows the society to stage several social functions. Division representatives attend these functions to build relationships with students.

Final-year students are encouraged to contact the Division for advice on their employment agreements before embarking on a new job, or on any other matter related to optometric practice.
